District Councillors Adie Fitzgerald and Sam Thompson attended their first official event today. This was the unveiling of the Nga Tapuwae Heritage Sign to commemorate 100 years since the NZ Rifle Brigade left their camp at Brockton.

Nga Tapuwae means ‘in their footsteps’ and is the name given to the New Zealand First World War Trails. Adie and Sam heard some amazing stories from families of these brave solders and really enjoyed their time with their new found New Zealand friends.

Councillor Fitzgerald said “ Both Sam and I felt truly priveledged and honoured to attend this wonderful event “.
