Amanda Milling, Member of Parliament for Cannock Chase, has welcomed a further reduction in unemployment in Cannock Chase. Unemployment in Cannock Chase has again fallen after figures released for June 2016 showed unemployment down to just 678. 

The total number of claimants is now 78 lower than in June 2015 and 33 lower than in May 2016, which highlights the continuing fall in unemployment in Cannock Chase as more people find work.

There was further good news for unemployed young people, as the number of claimants aged 18-24 in June 2016 was 50 lower than in June 2015. 

Nationally employment is down 201,000 over the past year and wages have continued to rise, with pay before bonuses up 2.2 per cent on last year, and private sector pay up 2.4 per cent. 

Amanda Milling MP said: “This is fantastic news for Cannock Chase and shows that unemployment is continuing to fall month after month. There is considerable investment coming into Cannock Chase, highlighting the confidence in our local economy and our local work force.  I recently ran a jobs fair which helped unemployed constituents speak to employers and find work given the real appetite from local business like the M6 Toll, Armed Forces, High Street Banks, ATP, Gestamp, APC Overnight, and many more companies to recruit locally”.
